Candidiasis

Candidiasis, a fungal infection resulting from an intestinal yeast overgrowth, can also affect the mouth, throat, or genital area. Common signs and symptoms include white patches in the mouth, a red, itchy rash and digestive issues like bloating or constipation. Many people mistakenly attribute these symptoms to other health issues like IBS.

Oral Thrush

People with oral thrush typically develop white, bumpy patches on their tongue, inner cheeks, gums, tonsils, or throat. The lesions can be painful and may bleed slightly when scraped.

Oral thrush is also often associated with redness or soreness of the tongue and mouth. In severe cases, it can spread to the esophagus and cause pain or difficulty swallowing. When there is too much Candida in the mouth, it can cause white, bumpy lesions, redness, and pain in the mouth and throat. This is also known as oral thrush.

There are a few things that can increase your risk of developing oral thrush. These include having poor oral hygiene or removable dentures, being diabetic or HIV positive, taking antibiotics or steroids, or consuming a lot of sugar.

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of oral thrush, it is important to see a doctor so that they can diagnose the condition and prescribe appropriate treatment.

Tiredness And Fatigue

Fatigue is a common symptom of candida overgrowth, and it can be caused by several different factors including nutritional deficiencies, such as vitamin B6, essential fatty acids, and magnesium.

For one, candida produces toxins that can lead to feelings of exhaustion and even brain fog. Additionally, candida can disrupt the absorption of nutrients from food, leading to deficiencies that also contribute to fatigue. Finally, candida can also cause inflammation, which can lead to fatigue and body aches.

If you are experiencing fatigue along with other symptoms such as brain fog, digestive issues, or skin problems.

Recurring genital or urinary tract infections

Women who suffer from recurrent genital or urinary tract infections may be dealing with candidiasis that is causing itching, burning, and soreness.

In some cases, it can also cause painful urination and discharge. Although candida is not technically a sexually transmitted infection, it is often seen in women who are sexually active.

In addition, certain factors such as antibiotic use and pregnancy can make a woman more susceptible to developing an overgrowth of candida.

Digestive issues

Digestive issues are a common symptom of Candida overgrowth. This is because Candida produces toxins that can damage the gut lining and cause inflammation. Additionally, Candida can attach to the walls of the intestines and interfere with absorption of nutrients because it crowds out beneficial bacteria responsible for nutrient absorption.

This can lead to symptoms like diarrhea, bloating, gas, constipation, and abdominal pain.

Skin and nail fungal infections

An overgrowth of candida can lead to infections of the skin, nails, and mucous membranes. Common symptoms of a candida infection include itchiness, redness, and swelling. A fungal infection is caused by a fungus, which is a type of microorganism. Fungi can live on the skin without causing any harm, but if they multiply, they can cause infections. Common types of fungal infections include athlete's foot and ringworm. Symptoms vary depending on the type of infection, but can include itchiness, redness, and blistering.

Joint pain

Candidiasis can cause a wide range of symptoms, including joint pain. While the exact mechanism is not fully understood, it is thought that the yeast may release toxins into your blood that damage the joints or trigger an immune response that leads to inflammation. In addition, candidiasis can weaken the intestinal lining, allowing bacteria and toxins to enter the bloodstream and causing systemic inflammation. As a result, treating candidiasis is essential for relieving joint pain and other symptoms.

Potential Causes Of Candidiasis

When your gut health is in check, beneficial bacteria in your body keep Candida levels under control.

However, if healthy bacteria levels are disrupted or the immune system is compromised, Candida can begin to overproduce.

Below are a few factors that can lead to Candida overgrowth

  • A gut condition or weaken immune system
  • Taking antibiotics too often
  • Eating a diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates
  • High or regular alcohol consumption
  • Taking oral contraceptives
  • Diabetes or Prediabetes
  • Poor sleep and high stress levels

When Candida begins to overproduce, it can lead to multiple health problems and seemingly unrelated symptoms.

So treating candidiasis with a gut healing protocol while addressing the many potential causes is key instead of trying to medicate general symptoms.
